There are many factors to this..... first, cats can get stressed out just SEEING a carrier, not to mention getting into it!
Driving back and forth to the vet office for any lengthy duration and having to re-acclimate themselves every time they are stuck in a new environment.
It takes a cat 20 minutes to re-acclimate to it's environement.
Therefore, 20 minutes in carrier, then car, then vet office, then exam room, then treatment room, back to exam room, back into carrier, into car and finally back home! Wow! I'm stressed just thinkging of al the re-acclimating they just did!
Cats are much more comfortable in their own environment, we already know this. But unfortunately that means that many are NOT getting Veterinarian care that they need!
Cats are great at hiding their illnesses until it is far advanced. This can have devestating consenquences and really effect how much treatment your veterinarian can offer.
Do I think if people had calm and non-stressed kitties that they'd go to the vet more often? YES! I DO!
